Redsense

The Redsense Alarm and Sensor are used to monitor venous needle dislodgement during Haemodialysis.

First and foremost, Redsense is a dependable monitoring aid because there is nothing complicated about it. The alarm unit transmits an infrared signal to the sensor - a fibre optic cable with a hairpin bend embedded at the center of the sensor patch. As soon as anything interferes with the light signal passing through the cable, the alarm in the alarm unit is activated.

There's only one button to operate: on/off. When you switch on the alarm unit it automatically runs a self-check. The battery warning light goes on if the rechargeable battery doesn't have enough power. If for some reason the sensor is not working, an orange warning lamp will light up. Otherwise the green lamp goes on to confirm that the sensor is fully operational. And the monitoring has begun.

Designed to detect blood, Redsense doesn't react to perspiration or water, so moisture alone will not cause an alarm. And because the signal to the sensor is continuous, the alarm reacts instantly to the first drop of blood. It does this with a loud audible alarm and a flashing red lamp on the alarm unit.

  • How To Use:

1. Secure the alarm unit to the patient's arm in a comfortable position

2. Remove the backing tape from the sensor patch and secure it over the venous needle. The centre of the patch should be directly over the access point.

3. Connect the sensor patch to the alarm unit with the connector

4. Activate the alarm unit by pressing the switch to `on“

5. Now Redsense is monitoring the access point
- should the access point begin bleeding the alarm unit will sound the alarm
